Planned W Hotel put on hold
Nashville Business Journal
A proposed luxury hotel near Music Row has been shelved for the time being, the victim of a continued slowdown and uncertainty in the tourism and hospitality industry since the Sept. 11 attacks.
Reba McEntire's StarStruck Entertainment had acquired the land for the planned W Hotel, which would link downtown and Music Row.
"We obviously are disappointed when a project of this caliber goes by the wayside," Butch Spyridon of the Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau in a release. "But it is no surprise given the state of the economy. It is no reflection on Nashville or on the developers. It is just another example of the situation this country and this industry have been put in."
