Home sales up 6.6 percent in August

Home closings in Middle Tennessee increased 6.6 percent in August to 2,567, according to the Middle Tennessee Regional Multiple Listing Service with the Greater Nashville Association of Realtors.
In August, residential closings increased 123 to 2,162, while condominium closings grew from 167 to 201. Multi-family home closings went from 12 a year ago to 34, while farm closings increased to 184 from 170.
The median price of a single-family home in August was $136,500, compared to $133,000 a year ago. For condominiums, the median price was $117,900, up from last year's average of $94,900.
So far this year, closings have totaled 18,068, up 6.1 percent from a year ago.
